Privacy policy
Last updated: 2 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data FlyttWise collects when you build a relocation plan, save it, join the waitlist or send feedback, why we need it, who processes it for us, how long we keep it, and how you can see or delete it.
1. Who is responsible for your data
FlyttWise (flyttwise.com) is run by Sondre Eirik Krydsby Riis, an individual entrepreneur based in Hungary. We are the controller of your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
For anything about your data, email us at hello@flyttwise.com.
2. What we collect
Your questionnaire answers. To build a plan we ask where you live, your citizenship(s), where you are moving, why and for how long, your work or study situation and your age. Depending on your answers we may also ask about a partner (their citizenship, your relationship and whether they will work), children (how many and their age groups), pets, where your driving licence was issued, and your income range (optional, with “Prefer not to say”). You can add free text in “Anything else”. Please don't include your name, contact details, health information or other sensitive details there: we don't need them.
While you fill in the questionnaire, your answers stay in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to us until you submit it.
Your plans. We store each plan you create: your answers, the generated checklist, which steps you have ticked off, and when the plan was made. You don't need an account: if you don't have one, we create an anonymous account for your browser (a random identifier, no email address), kept in a cookie, so you can come back to your plan.
Your account. If you sign in or save a plan, we store your email address and when you signed in. We use your email to send you sign-in links. We don't ask for your name or a password.
Waitlist entries. If you join the waitlist for a move we don't cover yet, we store your email address, the destination, the citizenship(s) you gave us (if any), where on the site you signed up, and when.
Feedback on plans. If you answer “Was this plan helpful?”, we store your yes or no, your optional comment, and the destination and immigration route of that plan. Your feedback is stored separately from your plan, your account and your email address. We only mark the plan as “feedback given” so we don't ask again.
Technical data. To keep FlyttWise secure and prevent abuse, we briefly keep counters linked to your IP address (and, for waitlist signups, your email address) to limit how often something can be done. Our hosting and database providers also keep short-lived server logs that include IP addresses. For each plan, we log technical details of how it was generated (for example the model used, timing and the raw generated text), linked to that plan.
We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. See the cookie notice.
3. Why we use it, and on what legal basis
- To build, show and keep your plans, and to run your account: because you ask us to (performing our agreement with you, GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- To tell you when we cover your move (waitlist): your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time by asking us to remove you.
- To improve our plans using your feedback: our legitimate interest in making FlyttWise more accurate (Article 6(1)(f)). Giving feedback is optional.
- To keep FlyttWise secure and prevent abuse (rate limits, logs): our legitimate interest in running a safe service (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To meet legal obligations, where the law requires us to keep or disclose information (Article 6(1)(c)).
We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects. Your plan is information for you to use; it doesn't decide anything about you.
4. How we use AI (Claude)
When you submit the questionnaire, your answers, including any free text, are sent to Claude, an AI model provided by Anthropic, together with the requirements from our library that match your move. Claude writes the personalised explanations in your plan (for example why a step applies to you). Your email address is not sent. Our server checks Claude's output against our library before your plan is saved.
Anthropic processes this data on our behalf under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to train its models on the data we send. Anthropic deletes the inputs and outputs of our requests within 30 days. If content is flagged as violating Anthropic's Usage Policy, Anthropic may keep it for up to 2 years, and the scores from its safety classifiers for up to 7 years. See Anthropic's Privacy Center for details.
5. Who processes your data for us
We use these service providers (processors), under data processing agreements:
- Supabase stores our database (plans, accounts, waitlist and feedback), handles sign-in and sends sign-in emails. Our project is hosted in the EU (Ireland, eu-west-1).
- Vercel hosts the website and runs our server code. It processes requests to the site, including IP addresses, and keeps short-lived logs.
- Anthropic provides the Claude API that writes the explanations in your plan (see section 4).
These providers are based in, or use infrastructure in, the United States. Where your data leaves the European Economic Area, the transfer is protected as follows: Vercel is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework; Anthropic and Supabase rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses in their data processing agreements.
Only the operator of FlyttWise and the people we authorise to maintain the content can access the admin area. Access to your plans is restricted in the database so that each user can only see their own.
6. How long we keep it
- Plans and answers: until you delete the plan (you can do this in My plans) or ask us to delete it. The technical generation log is deleted with the plan. Plans made without an account are deleted automatically after 12 months without activity, that is, when the plan hasn't been opened, changed or had a step ticked off for 12 months. Plans saved to an account are never deleted automatically.
- Your account and email address: until you ask us to delete your account.
- Waitlist entries: until we have told you that we cover your move, or until you ask to be removed, whichever comes first, and at most 24 months after you signed up. After that we delete them automatically.
- Feedback: for as long as it helps us improve our plans. It isn't linked to you, but if your comment contains personal details, we delete it on request.
- Rate-limit counters and server logs: kept only for a short time, as long as needed for security, in line with our hosting providers’ standard retention periods.
7. Your rights, and how to use them
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- get a copy of the personal data we hold about you (access and portability);
- have it corrected if it is wrong;
- have it deleted;
- restrict or object to how we use it, including use based on legitimate interest;
- withdraw your consent (for example to the waitlist) at any time.
To use any of these rights, email hello@flyttwise.com from the email address you used with FlyttWise. For a plan made without an account, include the plan's link so we can find it. We may ask you to confirm it is you before we act. We answer within one month.
You can also delete your plans yourself at any time in My plans.
If you think we handle your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Hungarian data protection authority, the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH, naih.hu), or to the data protection authority in the EU country where you live or work. We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out with you first.
8. Security
All traffic to FlyttWise is encrypted (HTTPS). Database access rules make sure each person can only read their own plans, and only the server can write plans, waitlist entries and feedback. Sign-in uses one-time email links, so we never store passwords.
9. Age
FlyttWise is meant for people aged 16 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from younger children.
10. General information, not legal advice
FlyttWise gives general information and planning help. It is not legal, tax or immigration advice. See our terms of service.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your data, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we will tell you before it applies, for example by email if you have an account.
